MySQL Database & System Administrator

Dave Partners is leading the search for a MySQL Database & Systems Administrator for a fast-paced, high growth startup in NYC. As a member of the team, you will have a direct impact on the business, and will be incentivized to contribute to the success of the company. Responsibilities:

• Ensures the database environment is designed and managed to meet business and IT demands for availability, performance and manageability.
• Ensures implementation of industry best practices in systems administration.
• Involved in application development projects to evolve the database architecture and design.
• Monitors database operations.
• Analyzes and responds to performance and other maintenance issues.
• Inventories and documents forms, reports, notices, etc.
• Participates in the creation of development, staging & production database instances, and the migration of those instances from one environment to another.
• Tests and corrects errors and refines changes.
• Tunes the performance of all the staging and production database instances.
• Performs back-up and recovery.
• Plans and executes disaster recovery.
• Performs complex query development.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated exceptional database design and SQL programming skills to perform data troubleshooting and data manipulation tasks.
• Administering of InnoDB and MyISAM table types.
• Experience with MYSQL replication.
• Experience with multi-master clustering (HA).
• Experience with MYSQL performance tuning and optimization. (query optimization, index tuning, caching and buffer tuning).
• Experience with data profiling, meta data analysis, data modeling and relational schema design.
• Solid understanding and experience in disaster recovery, planning and implementation.
• Experience with backup and recovery process.
• Must have hands on experience in Linux.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve a broad range of technical problems.

The Imaging Specialist in Apple’s Graphic Design Group performs a variety of tasks to support creative staff. He or she supports design staff in retouching and compositing photography, visualizing cutting edge solutions to design problems and creating artwork in Photoshop and Cinema 4D for use on conceptual layouts. They need to have a thorough working knowledge of Photoshop CS4 and Cinema 4D. They should also be familiar with Illustrator CS4.

The specialist also prepares art to strict standards and sizes for use in sales and keynote presentations, as well as for web, worldwide sales, PR, and marcom support. Given this, a technical understanding of how files compress and how to get them ready for the web, is essential.

The Imaging Specialist ideally has a college degree and a minimum of 5 years experience in a marketing or advertising agency or in-house design department. He or she is expert with Adobe Photoshop, advanced in other illustration and layout applications, and knowledgeable on Apple products, OS X, color management, server-based workflows, and image asset catalogs. The specialist may also have advanced expertise in prepress, photography, painting, 3D rendering, and other visual arts.

Imaging work is typically done within small teams under tight deadlines, so strong communication skills are required, as well as coolness under pressure, resourcefulness, ingenuity in solving problems, dependability, attention to detail, and the ability to learn and cope with rapid change. Not least, the position requires the specialist to be dedicated to Apple’s high standards of quality.

The Senior Imaging Specialist typically leads a Photoshop sub-specialty, such as prepress, advanced visualization, or retouching. He or she may consult with design staff to provide an expanded visual palette and improved workflow, perform quality assurance, communicate directly with vendors, and develop guidelines and templates. The senior specialist ideally has at least 7 years of experience in the field, and highly advanced skills with Photoshop and Cinema 4D.
