(New York, NY) Wildcard is a leading edge startup focused on building a better mobile web. Our iPhone app is the world's first browser for cards—a new, faster way to get what you need from the web. It's just one of the many significant design challenges that we’ve undertaken in our mission to bring about the next revolution in mobile.

The company is seeking a versatile, talented, team-oriented designer to help us work on many different fronts in this campaign, including iterating on our iOS app, building developer and partner tools on the web, and further articulating our evolving brand.

We’re looking for candidates who are passionate about designing products for mobile and web platforms, and who are thrilled by the prospect of redefining how people access the world on mobile devices. This position will be the third member of our small design team, which despite its size is an equal partner on all company matters. Our culture is engineering-rich but highly attuned to design, and the right candidate will thrive on this mix of forward-leaning technology and deep product thinking.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years professional design experience
  • Experience designing and shipping mobile and web products
  • Superb visual design skills, including expert fluency in branding, typography, composition and color
  • Superb user experience design skills, including user research, wireframing and prototyping
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and Bohemian Coding’s Sketch
  • High comfort level with the pace and constraints of a startup environment
  • Adept at working hand in hand with engineers for maximum creativity and productivity
  • Team-oriented, highly collaborative working habits—you should be familiar with but not dogmatic about various industry standard design and development methodologies
  • Advanced proficiency in articulating design rationale in written and oral form
Ideal candidates will also have
  • Experience with a variety of interaction prototyping tools, e.g., Pixate, Framer, Quartz Composer/Origami, Marvel and Keynote
  • Experience with the principles of animation for user interfaces
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery

Spark No 9: Visual Storyteller

0
0

(New York City) Spark No.9 is seeking a fearless, whip-smart visual storyteller.

Spark No.9 is an NYC-based consulting firm that collaborates with companies large and small to design businesses people love. Founded by strategists, designers, and entrepreneurs, we believe there should be more doing in consulting, and more strategy in doing. We work with some of the fastest growing companies in NYC, and are located in the Meatpacking District.

We are in search of a fantastic visual storyteller who has the ability to think both critically and creatively. Your focus will be on telling visual stories that bring new products and business ideas to life. Sometimes those stories may take the form of a presentation, sometimes a website or product mocks, sometimes a new brand. Always, these stories will be in the service of designing businesses people love.

We practice real-time design—moving quickly from concept to mock to customer testing. You will be tasked with communicating ideas in many different media and styles for many different types of businesses. Although we have high standards and love all things visual, we are not precious. We care more about your ability to tell engaging stories with words, images, and data in a powerful way than we do about pixel-perfect design.

We are strong believers in smart people who wear multiple hats—the mortars, if you will. If you have a non-traditional background, and believe you would kill it at this job, we want to hear from you.

Primary Responsibilities:
+ Ability to quickly sketch and mock product concepts, business ideas, and nascent brands, and then transform them into fully realized user flows, presentations, and collateral as needed
+ Digital design, product design, high-level + UX Strategy & problem solving
+ Storytelling, Communications & Copywriting

Ideal Candidate:
+ You are a thoughtful, highly motivated team player
+ You have a fantastic portfolio of work you’re proud of
+ You are a nonlinear thinker who can hop disciplinary boundaries
+ You have ~4 years professional experience in a primarily design-driven role
+ You love language, you can write, and you believe that content is part of design, not something that is slotted in afterwards
+ You’re eager to work at Spark No.9 and feel passionately about what we’re building
+ You’re excited to be a key member of the team, and look forward to helping us build out and manage our larger design team

Future Growth Potential: Spark No.9 is a rapidly growing firm. You’ll be one of the first members of the team and there will be many ways for you to evolve your role as the company continues to get bigger and better.

Culture: We believe that inspiration comes from lots of unexpected places and that well-being is crucial for success. At Spark No 9, we support the nonwork parts of life—whether that’s a side project, travel, or family.

Apply: To apply, please write us (in conversational human-form, not cover-letter form) at hello@sparkno9.com, and send along your resume and a link to your portfolio.

0
0

(Anywhere) We’re looking for a talented User Interface Designer who is passionate about digital product design, information graphics and Teleport’s mission of helping people to freely choose where to live, work and make most of their lives.

As UI Designer, you will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from the early ideation phase to building pixel perfect mockups for variety of platforms. You will help to build a visual design system (including defining and documenting design rules) that enables our team to build software that fosters a delightful user experience.

An ideal candidate for our international and remote working team will have the following skills:

  • You have a diverse portfolio of web and mobile app work that exhibits excellent use of typography, color, imagery, and graphic elements.
  • You think in terms of design systems and make rational design decisions.

  • Ability to measure pixels by eye
Last but not least, among top candidates you do have an advantage if you are female. There are not enough women in tech, and we believe in the value of diverse teams building global products.

From a culture standpoint, we’d like you to relate to and use our product while developing it. That should fit well with startup people with both (a) the urge to live in new places and (b) the skills to continue effectively working with the rest of the team when remote. For starters, you will be teleporting between Estonia and Silicon Valley in addition to wherever else you want to be.
