The Brief

You have an established background of delivering cutting edge web applications. You are capable of designing and developing new functionality, as well as consistently supporting on-going maintenance releases. A healthy balance of technical muscle and business insight paired with appetite of learning new technologies is something that defines you.

Key Responsibilities
• Developing Skype's web applications from frontend to backend
• Tasks include: creating technical design, programming, documenting, creating unit-tests, troubleshooting and fixing bugs
• Work together with colleagues on code reviews, internal infrastructure, and process improvements

Pre-requisite knowledge, skills and experience
• We’re looking for real-life AJAX web applications development experience
• You’re master in PHP, SQL and relational database structures/functions
• Frontend development does not scare you, backend services fascinate you
• You know how to make things scale and have experience in implementing and supporting complex data-driven sites/applications
• You prefer short deadlines and measurable work-units, seeing your code ship makes you tick
• You have an across-the-board knowledge of Internet/web technologies, browsers and standards
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems preferred

Position Summary:

Responsible for design and build into HTML and CSS, rigorously testing this code for proper rendering across operating system and browser combinations. Also responsible for ensuring that code is as accessible, semantically correct and quick to download as possible within the constraints of the project and design. Must be willing to always get it done right.

Qualifications:

Required

Knowledge of web design processes, best practices, website usability, creating valid code, attention to detail, and basic understanding of search engine optimization.

·        BA/BS in design, tech, or self taught in related field

·        Experience in web development industry

·        Extensive experience with modern web standards  (W3C) and CSS-driven layouts

·        Ability to develop, modify, troubleshoot and maintain hand coded HTML/XHTML/CSS–including code produced by others

·        Knowledge of SEO best practices

·        Extensive experience with cross-browser issues and accompanying solutions

·        Adaptability to rapid requirement changes

·        A strong desire to learn new technologies

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Code implementation:

·        Assist, when needed, with graphic production, maintaining images of appropriate quality and format

·        Execute assigned projects in keeping with client goals and objectives:

o       Original template creation of websites, emails, newsletters, application interfaces etc

o       Creation of clean, modular and reusable code 

o       QA/Test all products ensuring OS and browser compatibility

o       Assist with post production (source control, backup, documentation)

·        Remain current in all areas of HTML/XHTML/CSS and actively pursue expansion of knowledge base.

·        Be a valuable participant in a diverse slate of discussions on coding, aesthetics, project budgeting, and business issues

Project Management:       

·        Complete projects in organized fashion staying on time

·        Assist as needed in the management of projects through the development process.

 

Physical Requirements:

This position will work in a standard, well lit, temperature controlled office environment. The essential Responsibilities identified above require ability to:

·        Sit at a desk for extended periods of time, utilizing a personal computer including a monitor and keyboard.  Requires near vision as well as right and left finger dexterity.

·        Work alone as well as with all other members of the organization

·        Manage stressful situations, and meet project deadlines, with attention to detail and accuracy
