  • assist in the production of quotations for application development projects
  • work on bespoke application development projects for our customers
  • enhance the internal company systems (support desk, sales process etc)
  • continually enhance your knowledge of all development environments and database systems in use.
Our chosen development technology is Ruby on Rails. So, you should have good skills in:
  • Ruby on Rails
  • Test Driven Development
  • Version Control using GIT
  • HTML / CSS
  • JavaScript / JQuery / Prototype
  • MySQL / PostgreSQL
Knowledge of Linux, PHP and Microsoft SQL Server would be a bonus.

Preferably, you will have a UK degree in an IT related discipline or equivalent professional experience. As a service-oriented business, you must be presentable, have good communication skills and a customer service mentality. The ability to work as part of a team is very important.

  • Provides systems analysis, design, and programming to the court unit and works with major national systems as well as those developed or customized for local use and use by other United States court units
 
  • Analyzes court processes, develops new software and creates enhancements to existing systems to satisfy court needs
 
  • Provides periodic project status reports on the progress of new software developed or delays and overruns to project management as required
 
  • Reviews and recommends information technology improvements to existing court unit processes and systems
 
  • Provides technical support as needed for locally developed software and systems
 
  • Advises project management on the feasibility and implementation of enhancements or modernizations of software
 
  • Assists in the development of budget justifications for court software, development tool sets, and upgrades as required by project management
 
  • Maintains a source control library and documentation of software developed for the court
 
  • Maintains contacts with other court technical personnel at different locations and levels for the purpose of staying knowledgeable of technical developments and techniques
 
  • May be required to assist with presentations and technical briefings for court management as well as judges and members of the bar on IT related topics
 
  • Recognizes and understands the key elements in the bankruptcy case progression
 
  • Assists in establishing and carrying out operational priorities in order to maintain the highest possible quality, understanding and efficiency of the work.

Duties include working during non-business hours and possibly some travel. Some physical effort may be involved in moving, connecting or trouble-shooting computing equipment
  
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the United States.  The incumbent should have a minimum of two years of application development experience and be proficient in developing applications using a variety of tools such as Java EE, PHP and Perl.  Proficiency in web development is required including (X)HTML, CSS, AJAX, and jQuery.  Proficiency in ANSI Standard SQL is also required.
 
Required competencies include:
 
  • Proficiency in a variety of programming languages (i.e. PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby) with emphasis on the Java EE development
  • Solid working knowledge of web services
  • Working knowledge of database access techniques and ANSI standard SQL, ideally with the Informix Database System and MySQL
  • Comfortable in advising non-automation personnel in automation techniques and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, design, program, develop, implement, integrate, and document applications
  • Ability to meet established deadlines and commitments
   
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in Java EE 5, Perl and PHP is preferred.  Experience with Agile development.  Strong UI/UX aesthetics.  Mobile development.  A related college degree is preferred.

Court employees are not included in the government?s civil service classification.  They are, however, entitled to the same benefits as other federal employees, including:  up to 13 days of paid annual leave per year, 10 federal holidays, participation in the Federal Employees Retirement System with percent of contributions matched, choice of health benefit plan from several options, life insurance, and periodic salary increases.  This position is subject to mandatory electronic funds transfer for salary payments.
