Webstellung is currently looking for a web developer with a deep, true and intimate understanding of semantic HTML and best coding practices.
Your position would entail developing pages from scratch as well as turning mockups or images into HTML and CSS code. In all instances, we are looking for clean, documented code right down to the most minute details. If you know the three ways to encode HTML entities, the proper way to indent code by hand, the benefits of single vs. double-quoting and can discuss the advantages and drawbacks of inlining images in your style sheets, you may be the right person for us.
Working on Mac OS X v. 10.6, Linux or *BSD is a must, as is an understanding of BBEdit, TextMate, Coda or vi(m).
This position does not entail testing sites on various browsers for the final QA round, but it is understood the code you write would degrade gracefully on the web's greatest plagues, as well as work with screen readers, so awareness and understanding of cross-platform development is a requirement.
We do not require "five years of experience in HTML 5 and CSS 3" but we would appreciate it if you loved HTML and CSS enough to keep abreast of new developments in the field and be excited to try some of them out, including these fancy glows and CSS animations.
Compensation for this position is 40 euros an hour, including taxes, payable through PayPal or bank transfer. There is a short freelancing agreement to sign as well as a blanket NDA to cover the work — with a provision for inclusion in portfolios under some conditions. Note that you must be able to issue a formal invoice in PDF format — whether you are an individual or work as a company.
Our company has clients on all continents and in various industries, ranging from computer shops to independent theatres. We would therefore expect you to keep a neutral and professional attitude about the projects, regardless of their content. (We never pass judgement on our clients' business or beliefs and expect you to follow suit.)
This is not a design position, so knowing your way around Illustrator, Photoshop and Pixelmator is a plus, but not a requirement. If you are a designer with a moderate knowledge of HTML, this is not the position for you.
This is not a JavaScript development position. However, knowledge of everyday JavaScript is appreciated, especially when it comes to integrating it with a validating page, keeping content accessible and degrading properly. You will not be asked to develop AJAX websites, however.
This position entails absolutely no script development — PHP, Perl, etc.
We do not require diplomas, certifications or engineering degrees. We do, however, require a good mastery of English or French and an ability to properly budget your time and really, really stick to the timelines you commit to.
Apply: Please email 5767@jobs.authenticjobs.com with a link to your site or blog and a short introduction to you and your work. If possible, explain why you feel you are a good match and why you would not be. Questions welcome. No attachments, social profiles or Word curricula vitae, please.
