Demonware, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Activision Inc., specializes in creating client- and server-side networking software for video games. We have worked with many publishers and games studios to create compelling online and multiplayer experiences for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, PC, and iPhone/iPad. Demonware is a technology driven company, with core focuses on C++, Python, Erlang, MySQL and Linux.
We have openings for C++ / Python Developers in our Dublin, Ireland office. The role is multi-faceted, including:
• Writing server and client code to support custom online and multiplayer features
• Advising game studios on how to design their online and multiplayer experience
• Setting up titles’ server environments and supporting them during development, certification, and production
• Troubleshooting problems with online and multiplayer features
• When necessary, travelling to game studios to provide on-site support (usually for 3 days – 2 weeks at a time)
These are the qualities we look for in the ideal candidate:
• Has a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent program
• Has excellent C++ skills
• Has excellent Python skills, or skills in a similar language
• Has excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Has excellent communcation skills
• Has an understanding of networking technologies, e.g. TCP, UDP, security and scalability
• Has experience with SQL and database design, specifically MySQL
• Has experience with Linux/Unix
• Has experience with multi-platform software development
• Enjoys working with a myriad of game studio developers on a day-to-day basis
• Has initiative, and is able to complete complex tasks with minimal supervision
