Basic Requirements:
We need a few good programmers who love to solve difficult problems. For you, the environment and programming language doesn't matter: Scala, Java, C, Lisp, Matlab, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, SQL, MapReduce, PIG, whatever! You learn a new language every day. (Okay, maybe every week.)
This position requires you to interact directly with academic researchers and computer scientists who have innovative ideas and algorithms they want to implement to solve interesting problems. You will work collaboratively to find meaning from documents and published information that wasn't originally intended. So it's helpful, but not required, if you have exposure to other concepts such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), entity resolution and disambiguation, N-grams, Lucene, Cassandra, etc.
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN, with ability/willingness to obtain DoD TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for taking algorithms and ideas which might be described in white papers, pseudo-code, or running code, and then convert it to run in a cloud (Hadoop) environment. Eventually, the end goal is to enhance existing or create new visualizations for end-users to see the relationships and other extracted information brought forth.
This is a highly dynamic, ever-changing research environment. If you want structure, designs, documentation, or CMMI, then don't bother applying! This job gives you the freedom to do whatever it takes to get it done, but we still need to deliver working, modular, reusable solutions. We still need to work smart!
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cloud environments is helpful, but you're smart enough to learn it on the job. It's just another programming paradigm - a day in the park.
