We are looking for a Production Support Engineer. The main responsibility of this job will be to provide technical support for trading. This will involve resolving server issues, attentive system monitoring, and troubleshooting daemon issues and connectivity glitches.
Job Functions:
The core functions of the Production Support Engineer are to:
- monitor the trading system and network in real-time
- resolve troubleshoot related problems with staff and brokers
- support/configure the market data and trading infrastructure
- create document procedures for network configuration and resolution, and prepare reports of system issues
As part of these core functions the Engineer will need to:
- configure and monitor FIX sessions to brokers and help resolve any connectivity problems
- analyze and report on logs of trading activity
- discover and resolve persistent system inefficiencies
- monitor state of network devices and occasionally assist in configuration of routers, switches, and firewalls
Job qualifications:
Education: bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering.
Experience: ideally, at least two years of related experience (i.e. with Unix/Linux environments; familiarity with shell scripting and Linux service operation); knowledge of networking concepts and trouble-shooting skills & ability to learn new/proprietary network and software systems.
Core competencies: intellectual curiosity, honesty and professionalism, good listener, good analytical skills, a highly motivated candidate capable of working independently, adaptable, mature, with strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, good communication and documentation skills, able to make recommendations. Entrepreneurial spirit, sense of responsibility.
Languages: fluent both in French and English.

Experience in any of the following is a plus:
- troubleshooting trading system order problems
- equity trading and associated financial concepts
- advanced scripting and coding
- network-monitoring software and procedures
- FIX and SNMP protocols
- Windows environments
- documentation techniques
- ad hoc analysis of application problems via source code, crash dumps, and stack traces
- ability to troubleshoot networking issues on Cisco routers, firewalls, switches, and on IPSec VPNs
- experience reading network sniffer traces
