Are you a dynamic language buff who doesn't like making websites? How about a webdev who'd like to branch out into other areas? Maybe you just want to get in on the ground floor for once? NearBuy Systems is an early stage startup looking for talented Ruby developers to join us in building a large-scale distributed system with tens of thousands of computers around the world. Your employee number would be < 10 and would have an amazing opportunity to shape our product and technical direction.
We're looking for someone with solid Ruby skills and/or experience developing on backend systems with dynamic languages. Since we're young and small you'll need to be willing to get your hands dirty in areas like ops and QA as we grow. Beyond all the technical stuff we need someone who can come into the office and have a good time. Work can be hard but it should be fun too. We're committed to building a lively, exciting culture and hope you can be a part of it.
We're located in Menlo Park, just off 101 and an easy bike ride from the Menlo Park Caltrain station.
Required Skills:
Experience with Ruby or other dynamic languages (Perl, Python, JavaScript, Scheme...)
Experience with, or willingness to try, agile techniques like Kanban and pair programming.
Bonus Points:
You've used Ruby without Rails and liked it.
GPGPU knowledge (CUDA, or OpenCL), while entirely unrelated to everything else in this job ad, would be very cool.
Experience with distributed computing or systems administration
Interested? If you think this is the opportunity for you please drop me (Nate) a line at jobs@nearbuysystems.com.
