Position:  The person in this position will be a recognized expert in Emerging Technology for the nytimes.com digital platforms.  Responsibilities include testing, troubleshooting and implementing rich media ads submitted by current advertisers, investigating and testing new technologies and developing new ad formats for digital platforms.  Must be proficient in Flash, HTML and Javascript coding and have familiarity with mobile applications. 
 
 
Responsibilities and Key Areas of Accountability:

1. Act as a resource to the Ad Operations group regarding the technical implementation of ads, testing new types of rich media ads, and troubleshooting those that present problems.  
 
2.  Code, debug, and troubleshoot Javascript, Flash, Video & Mobile advertising units as well as investigate general problems reported on the site that may be attributed to ad units.
 
3.  Enforce company advertising standards and policies.
 
4.  Set up and test creatives and campaigns in the ad server software environment.
 
5.  Administer campaigns utilizing third party vendor?s technology, and maintain working knowledge of their products and technologies.  This includes investigating and testing new ad technologies.
 
6. Provide design and coding consultation and services for our advertisers as needed.
 
7. Work with our counterparts in the Systems group to ensure that our ad management system and delivery engine are designed to optimally handle new ad formats.


8.  Develop online tools and widgets to improve workflow procedures in the Advertising Operations department; train ad traffickers in new software.
 
9.  Work with our internal development group and external vendors to implement ad tags as needed.
 
10. Collaborate with Director of Ad Ops, Technology on ongoing management and implementation of new ad products
 
 
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:


-          BS/BS Degree in graphic/interactive design or equivalent in related field.
-          3+ years of design/animation experience.
-          Expert level in Photoshop, Flash (AS2/AS3), HTML, Javascript, XML and JSON.
-          Familiarity in XCode and App development.
-          Exemplary communication skills and strong business acumen to understand marketing strategy.
-          Proven ability to multi-task.
-          Ability to learn quickly and to apply new tools and techniques.
