We are seeking a Product Manager, Sales and Promotion Management (SPM) who will understand the current and prospective customer needs and then translate the needs into a product strategy and vision working along with the executive team. This role will be responsible for prioritizing product requirements that maximize ROI. In addition, this role will define G/M and launch plans for the SPM product line.
Duties and Responsibilities:
â?¢ Responsible for the planning and definition of software product requirements for the SPM project.
â?¢ Responsible for the continued development of Synacor's core software platform designed to support content aggregation and delivery of value added services.
â?¢ Evaluate and adopt third party and open source alternatives to assist in build vs. buy decisions.
â?¢ Develop product requirements that meet business objectives.
o Develop sales channels that account for more then 25% of client's sales by increasing in-house ad impressions
â?¢ Coordinate and communicate with business, technical, and operations groups to understand objectives and limitations of each group and incorporate feedback into thorough, well-written product requirements.
â?¢ Translate business requirements into product specifications, and work closely with an engineering team to translate these into technical specifications.
â?¢ Oversee project through the product development lifecycle from inception through production handling all coordination between cross-functional teams.
o Project includes: Building a targeting system that leverages a third party rules engine, a product catalog as an extension of Synacor's CMS, a Shopping basket and check out process that is flexible.
â?¢ Work with development team during the product design and development phases to ensure requirements are being met and key design input is being incorporated.
â?¢ Develop supporting documentation and training materials for support of release, marketing and sales efforts.
â?¢ Work closely with marketing team to deliver collaterals and promotional elements to meet objectives for lead generation/awareness and client deployment.
â?¢ Identify and plan the key requirements for the software product that will deliver capability across multiple, consumer branded websites.
â?¢ Proactively identify process improvements and work to achieve consensus and drive implementation
â?¢ Other duties as assigned.
What you'll need to bring to the table:
â?¢ Three to five years Product Management experience in the Internet industry
â?¢ Bachelor's Degree, preferably a technical and or marketing degree
â?¢ Following experience highly desired: Business Rules Engine, Process definition and e-commerce
â?¢ Proven ability to effectively multi-task
â?¢ Ability to lead a cross-functional team and show progress on every task
â?¢ Good judgment in key issue identification and resolution spanning multiple departments throughout the customer deployment lifecycle
â?¢ Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
â?¢ Ability to work within a team and to make a plan and then execute it
â?¢ Understanding of product lifecycle from inception through delivery and post-delivery support.
â?¢ Knowledge of the web portal and content space a plus
â?¢ Multi-product, highly complex, interconnected software environment and an understanding of the full software development life-cycle is desired.
