We are seeking an Engineer that has experience with LINUX and PHP, JSP, ASP, or other language used for building web based applications. With a moderate level of guidance and direction from management, this Developer will perform Front End / GUI Development, enhancement and maintenance of existing software modules, custom programming for clients and various data manipulation tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
â?¢ Development, documentation, and maintenance of cutting edge web-based applications on our portal and premium service platforms.
â?¢ Develop and maintain applications using standard development tools.
â?¢ Providing technical consultation and expertise to Product Managers and other Synacor staff members.
â?¢ Writing technical and non-technical specifications and the documentation of procedures.
â?¢ Reviewing Product requirement documents as well as participating in integration calls with our partners.
â?¢ Effectively communicate task progress, analysis, recommendations, schedules, as well as technical and process issues and their resolution to a wide variety of customers ranging from senior managers to other technical personnel.
â?¢ Responsible for the analysis, design, development and support of application systems
â?¢ Maintain clear and complete documentation
â?¢ Other duties as assigned.
What you'll need to bring to the table:
â?¢ A minimum of 2-4 years of development experience in software or website development
â?¢ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or the equivalent work experience
â?¢ Ability and willingness to build knowledge of the organization, processes and customers
â?¢ Able to problem solve; analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures
â?¢ Develops competence by performing structured work assignments
â?¢ Experience programming PHP or PERL
â?¢ Experience with HTML, and JavaScript client-side scripting
â?¢ Experience with MySQL or equivalent
â?¢ Familiar with Unix/Linux: use, scripting and tools
â?¢ Knowledge of XML, SOAP and AJAX highly desirable
â?¢ Familiarity with revision control software
â?¢ Excellent communication skills
â?¢ Ability to collaborate
