Synacor/Buffalo, NYWe are currently searching for a Director of User Experience & Design who will lead the User Experience & Design team in developing creative concepts and approaches that address client needs, continuously enhancing and expanding Synacor's methodologies and services. The Director of User Experience & Design will provide strategic and tactical insight while defining industry-leading practices including user research and analysis, interaction design, and usability. The Director of User Experience & Design will be able to drive his/her visions into solid design deliverables.
Duties and Responsibilities:
â?¢ Lead and mentor the User Experience & Design team from concept through project execution.
â?¢ Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams in the planning and development of effective online solutions.
â?¢ Create the vision for developing, communicating, and implementing the user experience. Follow through with the processes and tactics to implement that vision.
â?¢ Work closely with clients to define needs, requirements, and goals for success, translating these into excellent user experiences.
â?¢ Contribute to online usability standards to ensure that Synacor's products offer an efficient, effective and consistent user experience.
â?¢ Suggest, plan and conduct appropriate user research via a variety of techniques including usability testing, online surveys, interviews, contextual inquiry, focus groups, paper prototyping and card sorting.
â?¢ Investigate, evaluate and recommend new and emerging usability techniques, technologies, and methodology process improvements.
â?¢ Devise solutions that balance user goals and business goals while fitting within the constraints of brand, time, budget, and technology.
â?¢ Other duties as assigned.
What you'll need to bring to the table:
â?¢ Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.
â?¢ Minimum of 5 years of online usability experience.
â?¢ Experience as a Director level authority at a growth-oriented creative or interactive company.
â?¢ A creative visionary with a knack for predicting web design and usability trends before they become popular.
â?¢ Expertise in user-centered design practices, information architecture, content and brand strategy, visual design, and interaction and interface development.
â?¢ Deep understanding of usability and industry best practices in multiple platforms.
â?¢ Proven ability to deliver high quality interaction designs to customers/stakeholders in a collaborative environment.
â?¢ Strong ability to work in teams, budget resource time, and maintain high quality of work under pressure and deadlines.
â?¢ Solid client (internal & external) relationship skills.
â?¢ Ability to influence people up, down and adjacent to obtain buy-in for your designs.
â?¢ Experience on a Scrum team as a ScrumMaster. Scrum certification is a plus.
â?¢ Demonstrated skill in collecting, analyzing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data.
â?¢ Excellent team-building and team management skills.
â?¢ Highly organized, strong attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
