Web Application Architect
This position is responsible for advancing the architecture and development of a digital media work flow suite. The application uses cutting edge front end pure JavaScript technology and the latest .NET web services. This position works very closely with the Front End Architect and Product Director as well as the development team. The Web Application Architect builds out tiered technology to support the front end. S/he sets coding guidelines and does code reviews for the services team, which is NY based with a future off-shore component. The position requires a hands-on leader who is enthusiastic about new technology, inquisitive, thinks strategically and manages risks. S/he is a motivated self-starter and multi-tasker with excellent communication, prioritization and diplomacy skills.
The digital media application suite is in production, evolving rapidly and implemented at its first client site. The development team successfully uses agile development methodology and manages deliverables per sprint via Team Foundation Server. This position gets to take part in an exciting blend of design, experimentation with the latest technology and practical implementation. The company is an IT shop over 20 years old specializing in media industry work flow applications.
Technical Responsibilities
Interface with Front End Architect to vet ideas and challenges and create scalable, extensible solutions.
Design and develop layers of the web application including data access layer, business services layer and integration with UI.
Enhance security, logging, caching, exception handling, validations and other modules.
Lead and implement best practices for build process and environment, versioning, code publishing and compilation, granularity assessment (what to expose and how to expose it) and documentation in an agile scenario.
Implement best service-oriented development practices,
Propose and implement improvements within the organizations software engineering practices and design.
Manage services development team via design direction and code reviews.
Skills
5+ years of experience esigning and developing enterprise-class, multi-tier transactional applications integrated with cutting edge web technologies including .NET
3+ years managing and mentoring developers on- or off-shore.
Practical experience with SOA, entity framework and WCF services and integration with Sequel Server, MySQL and Oracle.
Able to jump in and code or mentor other developers.
Effectively collaborates and communicates with a diverse team of professionals to define business problems, analyze existing systems and propose, define, and execute appropriate solutions.
Exceptional and proven prioritization, risk assessment and scope management skills.
