Converseon, an award winning social media agency, is seeking an experienced, passionate and driven developer to take a leadership position with-in our technology group. Are you a champion of agile development with a desire to drive innovation? Can you contribute as a core member of a project team and still leverage your years of development leadership experience to captain a boat of madly talented developers?

As a member of the technology group, you will be leading project teams from conception to launch. This will include architecture / planning, taking on daily development tasks, mentoring team members, leading stand ups and more. You should be adept at wearing several hats. Our technology initiatives evolve at a blindingly fast pace, so you must be adaptable and quick witted. We are tackling industry changing technology puzzles so you should have patience that would make you a DMV veteran.

Ideally you will have several years experience developing clean, object oriented applications and have a strong grasp of web development and database design. This position will require significant experience Ruby and at least one static language (C++, Java, etc). You should have played a key roll in leading and building several large to medium sized web applications from conception to launch (and beyond). Items such as source control, TDD and project documentation should be ingrained into your understanding of the software development life-cycle.

Linux is our platform of choice and it shows in our development team. We bring a new meaning to the term "self starter". While we don't expect you to be a system administrator, you should be comfortable setting up a basic LAMP and/or R(oR) environment from scratch both locally and on your chosen Linux distro.

Bonus points for experience with technologies such as Erlang, Clojure, Scala, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis etc.

Above all, you must be able to direct and mentor team members from all backgrounds and still sets while still keeping your hands in the code and keeping ownership of a project. Because of this, you must have strong communication skills and like dealing with people from all backgrounds.

We are looking for candidates in SE Michigan who are comfortable working remotely 3 or 4 days a week.
