GoodGuide: Front-End Engineer

GoodGuide organizes the world's product information to help consumers, purchasers and retailers make better decisions.  GoodGuide provides free information to the public about the health, environmental, and social impacts of products and companies via GoodGuide.com, mobile applications, and a network of distribution partners. We also provide businesses with subscription-based access to detailed ratings and a suite of sustainability analysis tools.

We are looking for a Front-End Engineer to help us design, build and improve the user experience at GoodGuide.com. Your mission would be to create the best possible user experience in accessing our data: focusing primarily on helping consumers use our data to purchase better products, but also building tools for our internal scientists to tweak our algorithms or enterprise integration for corporations to manage data partnerships. We also have an iPhone app. The technology stack we're using is Ruby on Rails, Linux and MySQL.

While an outstanding resume is great, we believe your work should speak for itself.  So send us examples of the projects you've worked on and sites you've built.  We're looking for people who enjoy creating beautiful, usable, and scalable websites.

DUTIES

    * Help design and refine mockups for new product features

    * Implement new features, from the database to Javascript and CSS

    * Interacting with users to understand requirements

    * Collaborate with product management and other developers on key features

    * Be a great team member and help change the world!

REQUIREMENTS

    * B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent

    * Smart, enthusiastic and driven

    * Self motivated, you enjoy working in a small team with top notch developers

    * Excellent communication skills

    * Examples of high-quality interfaces that you've built

    * Experience with Ruby on Rails a plus

    * Experience with CSS, JavaScript and Ajax

    * iPhone/mobile design experience a plus
