Evernote's Engineering team seeks a well-rounded software user interface design lead with skills and experience in functional specification, UI design, interaction design, and visual design to help enhance and expand the features of our web, desktop and mobile applications. A successful candidate will be well trained in design, illustrate an ability to apply strategic thinking and business goals to design work, and focus on simplicity, usability and aesthetics. The candidate will have worked as a hands-on UI designer and will be responsible for delivering hands-on exploratory and finished design and application-ready assets. The individual will be comfortable working with senior members of the management team and engineers in interactive design sessions.
A User Experience Designer will help shape the user experience of Evernote's products. The individual must have a proven track record of defining concise and distinctive user centered solutions through an iterative design process. You are expected to tenaciously consolidate input from multiple stakeholders including customer support, forums and user feedback, user researcher, engineering, and executive management.
Responsibilities
Develop storyboards, visual standards, interaction patterns, prototypes, wireframes, mockups, and requirements specifications for new features and new devices.
Balance organizational demands and project priorities and needs to select the appropriate method to achieve consensus and communicate design requirements.
Compare, contrast, and prioritize among alternative approaches to meeting functional objectives, using judgment to suggest solutions to design problems that optimize among customer needs, business constraints, and technological realities.
Take responsibility for creating the user interface of key customer experiences and projects, concentrating on end-to-end scenarios and key user tasks.
Qualifications
Experienced with user interface design guidelines for major platforms: web, Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android, etc.
Able to facilitate discussions about design and requirements from various stakeholders.
Capable of defining and implementing design guidelines, and design specs; demonstrate experience with industry/platform standards.
Prior experience in conceptual development and creative prototypes as well as tactical UI design and implementation.
Be efficient and insightful in dealing with peers, partners, and cross-discipline and cross-team relationships.
Excellent strategic problem-solving and decision-making skills in the field of design.
Results-oriented facilitation style which empowers team collaboration and innovation.
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage several projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to analyze an application and transform the design to make it simple and easy to use.
Learn new technology and platforms quickly.
Able to successfully negotiate a range of projects, from vague to well-defined, simple to complex, implementation to innovation.
Strong organizational and project management skills.

Facility with various design methods and processes, including Agile and iterative development.
Product/interaction design, symbolic systems or engineering design degree. Ideally post-graduate design degree preferred in UX design or cognitive science/human factors.
Experience with major design tools.
