We're looking for a new operations manager at 37signals. You'll be responsible for making sure that all our applications are always online and as fast they can be. You'll be working with our existing team of two system administrators to make this happen.
This is a working manager position. You'll lead the team, but you'll also be primarily responsible for doing the work.
Our setup consists of the following:
- 40+ co-located Linux servers
- Virtual machines w/ KVM
- Server automation w/ Chef
- MySQL master-master/slave setups
- Unicorn Rails processes
- HAProxy balancers
- Nginx/Apache web servers
- Monitoring with Nagios
- Cisco network gear
- Isilon storage devices (NFS)
- Schooner database appliances
You should have deep experience with most of these or similar technologies as a systems administrator.
In addition to the technical requirements, we're also looking for someone who has managed a team before, dealt with vendor relations, done capacity planning, and been in charge of a significant internet property.
For this position, we require that you're living in North America (if you're in Chicago, that's a plus).
