Comcast Interactive Media (CIM) is seeking a Senior Web Developer/Accessibility Specialist to join our Comcast Experience Engineering group. This group is responsible for ensuring the timely development, testing, and release of products on Comcast.net and Xfinity.com with a high degree of quality that exceeds customer expectations.
In this role you will work with other developers, designers, content editors, and business managers to develop features for Comcast.net and other products. In addition, you will define standards and implementation requirements to make our website and applications more accessible to all users. Mentoring and training other web developers with regards to accessibility is also an important piece of this role. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of WCAG (1.0 and 2.0) and Section 508, a good understanding of accessibility and usability for disabled people, and experience with assistive devices and building accessible web products.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years experience in accessible, cross-browser/cross-platform web development, using HTML/XHTML, CSS, and DOM Scripting (JavaScript).
- 5+ years experience with the software development cycle: product specification, design, implementation, QA, release, and maintenance.
- 3+ years experience with JAWS, Window-Eyes, or other screen-reading software or assistive technologies.
· Experience with Ajax, XML, and at least one common web application scripting language (PHP, ASP, JSP, etc).
- Expert knowledge of WCAG (1.0 and 2.0) and Section 508, and a pulse on common industry accessibility-related best practices.
- A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for code quality that follows best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
- A passion for making the web more accessible and usable for everyone.
ALSO PREFERRED:
- Ability to produce and deliver training materials for other developers and designers.
- Experience with team problem solving and providing a high level of internal customer service.
- Experience monitoring work quality and providing guidance, feedback, and mentoring where necessary.
- Experience with agile management tools (Rally), IDEs (Eclipse, Aptana), code versioning systems (Subversion), and systems to optimize content delivery (Akamai).
