Summary
The Senior Windows Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation and support of Windows and Virtualization Infrastructure at Spot. The Systems Engineer is charged with the responsibility of ensuring Spot's Microsoft and Virtual Infrastructure is performing at the highest level possible. The SE will be responsible for performance analysis, definition of optimization metrics and it's collection. Superior technical competency is a must and organizational/follow-through skills and ability to move quickly and get things done. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. Results oriented, analytical, well organized. The Senior Windows Engineer will have unquestionable degree of integrity and provide the highest level customer service and overall professionalism. Experience will range between 4 to 6 years hands-on experience within a high pressure complex IT environment. The Senior Windows Engineer must possess the ability to work effectively in a coordinating role across multiple constituencies, in a strong, open and collaborative style, a customer-service orientation with a focus on excellence, outstanding communications skills.
Responsibilities
• Design, configure and maintain Windows and VMware environments in QA, UAT and production.
• Provide 3rd tier support for the production sites and services - troubleshoot technical problems as they arise, design and implement long term solutions.
• Document system operations processes and procedures including installation and testing of system upgrades, fail over, and configuration documentation. Additionally, document architecture designs, system configurations and implementation procedures.
• Provides technical leadership in design and administration decisions properties and systems.
• Performance and capacity planning: monitor, reconfigure and tune hardware and software for performance improvements and future scalability.
• Training/Mentoring: Promote the professional growth of the team. Continually pursue opportunities for personal career/training development. Provide advanced training to Level 2 support staff in an effort to ensure that they are successful in providing the highest levels of customer service.
• Industry Awareness: Continually seeks industry (and shares with Management and Product Management) and market information and evaluates market trends and how they apply to technology.

Skills & Qualities
• Heavy server experience, troubleshooting, performance and latency optimization.
• Experience working with 64 bit systems.
• Hands experience with IIS, Exchange 2007, Active Directory, Citrix.
• Comprehensive understanding of DNS, DHCP, WINS, Group policy.
• At least three years of verifiable experience as a VMWARE Systems Engineer.
• Hands on experience in the designing, building, installation of VI3), administering, maintaining and troubleshooting complex VMware environments (farms) for test and production use.
• Experience should include working extensively with the following VMware technologies; Capacity Planner, Virtual Center, vMotion, HA, DRS, Consolidated Backup and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
• Experience using Enterprise Server Version (ESX) to support datacenter mission-critical applications.
• Exposure to latest version of VMware, vSphere v4.0.
• Experience in SAN attached clusters required, preferably EMC SAN, EMC Celerra.
• Knowledge of performance monitoring/ tuning, capacity management, and security for VMware clusters.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of Systems management and administration with an in-depth understanding of operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, Solaris, Unix/Linux * Certification(s) a plus. Scripting/system programming a plus
Knowledge of HA, DRS, Converter, vMotion, Storage vMotion, required.
• Ability to evaluate, provide recommendations, and implement third party solutions.
• A bachelor’s degree is the minimum requirement, preferably in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
