Gannett Co., Inc. Digital Division located in Tysons Corner, VA is seeking an experienced Manager/Product Design.
This person is accountable for managing the design of the user's experience for new products; applies knowledge of human behavior and expertise in new media information technology to set standards for quality design and artistic vision and reviews and approves design concepts, designs and art work.
Leads in translating product, service and program specifications into engaging design concepts, intuitive layouts, and delightful UI details that promote ease-of-use and optimize the user experience. Is responsible for all stages of user experience design throughout the new product development cycle (or throughout feature enhancement cycle), ensuring a compelling look and feel that meets branding, business and user needs.
Assigns design projects to, and manages the work, performance and development of, designers. Identifies, negotiates with and supervises the activities of internal and external design and coding resources.
Work with closely with information architects as product evolves from wireframe to functional project. Works with IA’s to translates feedback from any usability testing into an actionable list of changes as project iterates.
Leads the front-end development process (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) to build representations of the designs for user testing and engineer hand-off. Has a passion for W3C validation, accessibility, and properly structured semantic markup to ensure the best performance across all browser technologies. Collaborates with Technology & Operations on understanding how to connect interfaces with available or emerging technology to best serve the target audience and fulfill customer jobs.
Requirements Five or more years professional web design experience, demonstrating strong design results.
College degree in web design, graphic design or related field.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Expert with graphic tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash, and web design tools such .as Dreamweaver.
Expert with HTML, CSS JavaScript.
Familiar with MS Office suite including Visio.
