C/C++ Developer (and VM Tweaker)
Portland, Oregon

Does this describe you?

A C/C++ rockstar?
Love modern dynamic languages like Ruby, Python, and PHP?
Fascinated with implementation -- memory layouts, the garbage collectors, the corners of the performance envelope, and even the C internals of the VMs?
Motivated to build things that it is said cant be built?

If you answer "Yes!" to all of these, you should be part of the New Relic dev team. What are you waiting for??

Our product is simple for users, but complex behind the scenes, requiring that you have a portfolio of, and continually invent, tricks and techniques. Of course, if you are still readying youre the kind of person who thinks thats hugely fun. So in joining us, youll not only be joining a fast-growing pre-IPO startup, youll also be setting yourself up for non-stop engineering fun.

We're looking for someone who understands multithreading, database contention, and object-oriented design, as well as the experience coding down in the bits: C/C++/PHP/Python/etc. Enthusiasm for agile processes and continuous deployment is essential. Experience building and deploying web applications would be great but the absence of that is not a blocking requirement.

About us: We are passionate - possibly even crazy - about application performance management (APM). Our mission is to make web applications run better, to make the internet more productive, and to make life easier for developers and devops. We are turning the APM marketplace upside down by providing SaaS products that deliver high-value functionality previously available only through enterprise software. We have almost 5,000 customers already and with your help well soon have 10x that number.

To be considered seriously, you will have:

Written a lot of C or C++. Pointers are your friends and you have code samples to prove it (please provide said code samples).
Done something interesting with the meta-programming facilities of a modern dynamic language because you just like the way programming languages are implemented (please explain what you did).

Experience building and deploying web applications would be great but the absence of that is not a blocking requirement.

You will work in our Portland, Oregon office, in a vibrant tech community and a region with a great quality of life. We will help relocate outstanding candidates. We offer competitive compensation, pre-IPO stock options, and big-company benefits (medical, dental, vision, life), while maintaining the energy, agility and fun of a start-up.

New Relic is most decidedly an equal opportunity employer. We seek applicants of diverse background and hire without regard to race, color, gender, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, disability, age, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Interested? Go to www.tinyurl.com/NRCdev to tell us about you. You can find out more about us at www.NewRelic.com.
