The Role
Buddy Media is looking for a bright and self-motivated Director of
Engineering. The primary responsibilities of this role will be to manage
and mentor an experienced team of engineers in our New York office with
a goal of building on our already well established suite of social
platform utilities, scaling to meet new demands, and focusing on
stability through excellent standards and process control.
An ideal candidate will have 5+ years worth of experience leading teams
of engineers and working with company stakeholders to meet build
requirements. The candidate should have an expert knowledge of hands on
object oriented programming in a web environment.
The candidate should have intimate knowledge of release processes and be
capable of putting these processes into place. The candidate should
have experience leading frequent code reviews with relevant engineers to
ensure code is maintainable, enhanceable, and adheres to all code
standards.
Responsibilities
-Collaborate with senior business managers on technology, process and
solutions to support strategic initiatives.
-Work within a high performance distributed architecture
-Lead platform development in a LAMP (php) environment.
-Act as release manager for all internal builds.
-Manage multiple individual teams of developers and meet with each
team
leader on a weekly basis.
-Establish release processes and code standards among individual
teams.
-Meet all deadlines as established by senior business managers.
Necessary Skills
-Expert knowledge of the full LAMP stack.
-Expert OOP background with a primary language of any of the above
(PHP, Python, Ruby, Java)
-Source Code Version Control (Git, SVN)
-Expert knowledge of Design Patterns including MVC.
-Expert knowledge of MVC web frameworks.
-Expert knowledge of RDMBS.
-Attention to detail, specifically from a code standard perspective.
-Hands on experience with release process patterns such as Agile and
Waterfall.
-Working knowledge of HTML/Javascript (JQuery).
-XML/XSLT
-Hands on experience with REST/SOAP API structures.
Preferred Skills
-Expert PHP5.
-Hands on Git experience.
-Facebook Platform experience including hands on experience with
FBML,FQL, FBJS, and Open Graph Objects.

VP, Engineering.
