Application and Database Developer at Continuing Education at Colorado State University (Fort ...

This position is responsible for application and database development dedicated to assisting with the implementation, on-going operation, and advancement of applications and databases depended on by the Division of Continuing Education. This position will work with staff across the organization to support business requirements, develop new applications, enhance features and reporting capabilities, and ensure applications perform as expected. This position relies on both technical capability (development, coding, and administration) as well as functional capability (definition and documentation, technical support, and training). Hands-on development, including coding, database design, and implementation of business logic is critical to the success of this position. Some after-hours and weekend work is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Administration of SQL Server databases including creation, maintenance, upgrade, optimization, security, integration with external applications or services, and backup and restore strategy.
Creation and modification of reports, stored procedures, views, tables, and jobs.
Implementation and integration of applications and services such as customer relationship management (CRM), centralized reporting solution, and internal information systems.
Development of reports and ad-hoc queries in support of business needs and analysis.
Managing the upgrade and implementation processes for SunGard Banner as used by the Division.
Development and support of internal Microsoft Access database applications.
Ensuring data integrity through application design, audit reporting, and analysis.
Project research and problem resolution.
Technical and non-technical support for DCE systems and staff.
Other duties as assigned.

SALARY: $65,000- $73,000 range and is commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications:

B.S. degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
Evidence of personal initiative and ability to independently pursue solutions as needs are identified.
At least three years professional experience in the following:

Development of advanced SQL and T-SQL statements, stored procedures, and queries to support data management and reporting.
Development and administration of SQL Server databases.
Report development and administration using SQL Server Reporting Services or other online reporting solution.
Implementation of online and database-driven applications and services including experience providing functional and technical support.

Preferred Qualifications:

Development in Microsoft Access.
Development in .NET technologies.
Experience with SQL Server 2008.
Experience with business intelligence reporting and dashboards.
Evidence of effective communication skills.
