Basic Qualifications:

Core Competencies:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Public Policy or Technical Discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Typically possesses seven or more years experience in managing projects or organizational programs, plus five or more years of supervisory or project management experience.
- Demonstrated experience in project/portfolio management, related to emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated experience creating project management plans that specify charter, scope, approach, management plans, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), cost estimates, schedule, milestones and target dates, risk management plans and project change control plans.

Typical Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be a project manager in the Advanced Technology (AT), located within the Transmission and Distribution Business Unit (TDBU), at Southern California Edison (SCE). The successful candidate will lead AT's Smart Grid strategy efforts and the Research, Development and Demonstration (RD&D) portfolio. This individual will act as the project lead on various smart grid planning and regulatory activities, such as the Smart Grid Order Instituting Rulemaking (OIR). The successful candidate will provide leadership on large collaborative projects with other utilities and industries such as the California Energy Commission (CEC) California Smart Grid Visioning Project. This project manager will utilize critical thinking skills to understand strategic business impacts of emerging Smart Grid technologies and policy. This individual will manage responses to regulatory/legislative issues which involve coordination across business units and other California utilities. The successful candidate will manage the team responsible for the RD&D portfolio. The successful candidate will develop ad hoc reports, presentations, and analyses of strategic issues related to smart grid technology or policy. The successful candidate will make presentations of strategic planning and smart grid technology concepts to executive management, industry collaboration groups, and state/federal regulatory officials as needed. The successful candidate will engage Smart Grid engineers and subject matter experts in technical discussions to understand and communicate alignment to business goals, alignment to policy objectives, overall technical maturity, and potential cost effectiveness of emerging smart grid technologies. The successful candidate will manage and direct cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will provide leadership and motivation to team members and manage complex issues. The successful candidate will perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
