(Portland, OR)
We’re looking for a front-end designer who wants to help take our video management interface and video channel widgets to the next level. We're currently in private beta with select partners and are hurtling toward our public launch. We want someone who can bring a fresh infusion of talent, ideas and implement features that have been languishing.
You should be extremely experienced with JQuery/AJAX/Javascript and able to write CSS3 that doesn't break, regardless of the browser you through at it (OK, we'll cut you some slack on IE6). You should know how to make sure our widgets' code doesn't collide with that of the sites they are embedded on.
We're not a data company; we don't deal with lots of numbers or text. We're a video company. We're passionate about visuals and creating an interface that is "Fisher-Price" simple.
Additional things we'd like in our new team member:
* A strong design ability- Sometimes you'll be working within an established aesthetic, other times we'll ask you to get creative. We want someone who makes bold design choices.
* A passion for best-practices and user-centered, standards-based design - we're building our platform to be cutting-edge and platform-agnostic. We heart HTML5.
* Familiarity with PHP - Though you'll be working with a talented programmer who will do most of the coding heavylifting, we'd like you to have basic PHP familiarity.
* Familiarity with Smarty - You should play well with templating engines.
* Ability to work independently- We are a team of five who work on our own, guided by a weekly Skype meeting and regular Basecamp & email interactions.
* Ability to take and offer direction - We want someone who isn't afraid of constructive criticism nor afraid to offer it.
* Easy access - We're mostly based in Portland, it would be great if you were too. That being said, we're looking for talent over location.
* Time to commit - We want 20+ hours a week of your most creative energy.
* Familiarity with SVN a must.
You’ll work as an independent contractor on a monthly retainer. Pay depends on ability and quality of work.
Apply: If you match the description above, please email us 6005@jobs.authenticjobs.com with some recent examples of your front-end work. We'd like to talk.
