WebStrong Group, an online
communications and public relations agency servicing high-profile, national
political and sports entertainment clients, seeks an experienced and motivated
individual to join our team as a Ruby on Rails developer.
The ideal candidate will have a strong
background in agile development and Ruby on Rails.
Bring your Web Development expertise to the
following role:
- Be a part of an agile development team working on developing and / or enhancing highly scalable external facing website.
- 3 or more years experience developing in Ruby on Rails.
- Create bulletproof cross-browser compatible websites working with one or more of these technologies - Ruby on Rails, Groovy, Ajax/ DHTML(XHTML, HTML5, J Query, Java script 1.0 - 1.5, DOM levels 0-2 tools), My Sql, Postgres, Java, and J2EE.
- Under general guidance, design, develop, implement, document and test your changes to existing or new application programs
- Support system and integration testing activities
- Participate in JAD sessions and requirement gathering
- Analyze business needs and translates business requirements to technical designed JAD sessions
- As a part of the technical team, you will need to be comfortable working in a deadline-driven project delivery
- You will be part of a team of professional, dedicated to producing high quality and elegant solutions that meet or exceed the customer's requirement and expectations
- A total of 3 plus years relevant experience in a multi-platform environment, including, but not limited to: Application development or database development
- Be opinionated and passionate by working across teams to evangelize and support best practices using web standards
- Communicate clearly in a timely manner in both verbal and written communication
- Work independently and with a cross functional team of business and IT to create highly scalable web application
- Knowledge about agile development and project management methodologies
- Effectively adapt to rapidly changing technologies and methodologies and apply them to technological and / or business needs of limited scope
- Analyze, diagnose and resolve light to medium complex programming problems and system coordination issues
- Be moderately interested in progressive politics and online organizing.
This position is ideal for someone who
has a technical background but is also interested in progressive politics and
online netroots activism. Our team is united in their passion to use technology
to help progressive campaigns and clients.
We are not looking for contractors, consultants, vendors,
or telecommuters.
This is a full time position based in our
Alexandria, VA office. To be
considered for this position, you must live or relocate to the Washington DC
metro area.
