Were a group of smart, innovative and creative people, based in Cambridge, who make ingeniously simple software. Were growing and weve got loads of great product ideas. We need more people to make them happen.
Were independently recognised as the best small software development workplace in Cambridge. To read more about life as a Test Engineer at Red Gate please click here or see what people at Red Gate have to say in our People Profiles and Video Diaries.
So, what do we do? We develop and test software in small autonomous project teams using the scrum approach. At Red Gate, Test Engineers arent second class citizens. Youll be programming alongside Software Engineers and youll have an equal say in how your project develops. Youll be working alongside awesome engineers, testers, authors and user experience specialists. Youll write test frameworks, build your own test environments, get involved in technical investigations and advise on how to address performance issues or specific bugs. Every three months we have a Down Tools Week where we build whatever we want. Were hiring across all areas of product and internal development. We make tools for database developers and administrators. We also make .Net and Exchange tools. But its not all about product development; we have a significant ecommerce site and community sites including sqlservercentral.com with 100,000 page views per day. If theres a particular area youre interested in, please just let us know.
So, what are we looking for? Well, you dont need to be a genius, but wed like you to be pretty smart. A good degree in a numerate subject tells us that we can probably learn stuff from you. Thorough testing is embedded in our culture; its key to our success and we think were pretty good at it. Of course we do our fair share of manual testing, but we try to automate as much as we can. So, wed like you to have experience in automated testing using a full programming language such as C#, Java or C/C++. Above all, wed like you to have a passion for programming and to enjoy breaking developers code.
Salaries range from £30,000 to £40,000. We have a fantastic benefits package which includes bonuses, free breakfast & lunch, 25 days holiday, pension, BUPA health and travel, stock options, life assurance, critical illness cover, income protection cover, local travel discounts, an annual charity day, free parking, childcare vouchers and subsidised gym membership. And theres flexitime so you can start at 11am if you like. Most importantly, youll work in a great environment, on challenging projects, with smart people that inspire you.
