Summary
 
The VP & Chief Technology Officer, Products is responsible for creating and overseeing the long-term technology and platform architecture strategic direction used by Taleo to develop its products, and ensures that internal product development efforts are aligned with that strategic direction. Understands and leverages technology trends and applies them to Taleo's solutions. Assesses the technology used by competitors and endeavors to provide Taleo with significant competitive advantage through insightful use of technology in development of its solutions. Articulates Taleo's technology strategy externally to customers, analysts and others, promoting our approach to generate enthusiasm and accelerate broad adoption of Taleo solutions. Performs technology due diligence in potential acquisitions.
 
Primary Responsibilities/Duties
 
â?¢ Understands Taleo's solutions, business/customer value proposition and business model (i.e. SaaS); formulates opinions regarding the most relevant and practical technologies and suite architecture required to meet our business goals.
â?¢ Analyzes Taleo's current technology and product architecture, ensuring that it is well understood across Taleo's Products organization.
â?¢ Develops and obtains buy-in/support for Taleo's future product technology and architectural strategy for all solutions. Ensures that all product development organizations are involved in, and understand, Taleo's ongoing technology strategy.
â?¢ Along with other development leaders, monitors product development efforts and understands their underlying technology choices and architecture. Ensures that product development efforts are aligned with Taleo's future product technology and architectural strategy.
â?¢ Provides leadership in understanding prevailing technology trends and their impact on / relevance to Taleo's solutions. Ensures that development leadership and engineers are kept abreast of technology trends.
â?¢ Presents/communicates Taleo's technology strategy to all constituencies, as needed. This includes the Board of Directors, customers, analysts, industry pundits, employees and others, as needed.
â?¢ Acts as a member of the Products and Technology executive team. Liaises with Development and Product Management leaders, GM's, and leaders of Production, Marketing and Field organizations to communicate Taleo's technology direction and enable their effectiveness.
â?¢ Assesses technology used in competitive products and disseminates this information as needed internally. Points out flaws in the technology choices made by competitors, enabling Taleo's field organization to combat competitive threats.
â?¢ Assesses technology used by other companies that Taleo considers possible acquisition or partnership targets.

Qualifications:
â?¢ 15 years experience developing complex, enterprise, mission critical products involving high-volume data processing.
â?¢ 5 years working at the executive level in a technology product organization.
â?¢ Recent experience leading the technology roadmap for enterprise level SaaS or Cloud products.
� Professional services / Consulting group at a large, enterprise software company (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Baan, i2, PeopleSoft, Siebel, etc.), or a technology-based professional services firm a plus. 
� Current hands-on coding capabilities with technologies such as:  C, C , .NET, Java, etc.
â?¢ Exceptionally strong academic credentials from top-tier schools coupled with deep technical capabilities.
â?¢ Advanced degrees (PhD / MS) in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, (or similar) highly desirable, but not required.
