SONY ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT Job Title: Web Artist - Contractor Location: San Diego, CA Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) is looking for a creative and self motivated Web Artist to join our Platform Technology Web team. This team is responsible for the design and implementation of SOE\'s many web sites as well as providing services to other areas within the company. This is a full time temporary position starting as soon as possible and located in San Diego, CA. The successful candidate would be reporting directly to the Art Director. The primary duties of this position are the design, implementation, testing and distribution of SOE\'s email programs. This would involve interacting with multiple marketing Brand Managers and implementing their briefs to create visually appealing and well designed layouts for promotional emailers from design to final distribution. RESPONSIBILITIES - Professionally interact with multiple Brand Managers to schedule and deliver their email design needs. - Create initial design comps to attract, retain and monetize players for our world-class online games. - Use SOE\'s current distribution tool to thoroughly test and initiate final distribution of all emailers. - Generate reports on completed distributions. - Research competitor emailers for style, presentation, usability, and layout. - Keep up to date on web technologies sufficient to understand how the technology is best utilized to market cutting-edge online games. - Maintain web art such as feature graphics, header artwork, ad creative and any other web art related pieces. - Maintain and update Adobe Flash files where needed. - Localize artwork using translated copy. - Supporting the Platform Web team with design needs required to maintain existing sites. - Other related design duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS - 3 years of experience in web design or other closely related artistic field. In particular, experience designing effective emails and an understanding of best practices. - Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. - Professional, autonomous, proactive, highly motivated and well organized. - Strong sense of customer service. - Proficient with reading, writing and troubleshooting HTML and CSS. - Ability to work under stringent deadlines and notify supervisor of possible issues in a timely fashion. - Ability to receive feedback and direction. - Maintain/re-purpose DHTML, XML, JavaScript and Actionscript. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Experience with email distribution tools. - Extensive game playing experience (especially MMOs and Facebook apps) a plus. - Working knowledge of the Entertainment/Gaming Industry a plus. - Digital illustration skills are a plus.
