Priceline is seeking a Senior Software Engineer/ Senior Java Developer. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for Java development including the analysis, low-level design, development, unit-testing, maintenance, and support of projects related to the Priceline Rental Cars product. Projects will include development of new functionality and content, maintenance and improvement of existing systems, automation of business and technical processes, and trouble-shooting production issues and fixing as needed. Project work may include development for our front-end, middle-tier, and back-end components, all of which may have an impact on the Priceline.com Web site, XML API, iPhone application, and rental car business tools.
In addition responsibilities include:
â?¢ Working cooperatively with the Rental Cars business team and other members of the development team to review business requirements and write technical specifications.
â?¢ Working cooperatively with the Rental Car development team and various other development and support teams to implement, test, deploy, maintain, and trouble-shoot Rental Car projects.
Required Skills
â?¢ Strong object-oriented design skills.
â?¢ Must have strong command of the Java language. The more work experience with Java the better. Experience with concurrency a plus. Familiarity with design and style patterns a plus. Knowledge and exprerience with other programming languages a plus.
â?¢ Must have strong command of JSP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax, Struts. The more work experience with these technologies the better. Experience with XML and XSLT a plus. Experience with ASP and VB a plus. Experience with other 'view' and 'controller' technologies technologies a plus.
â?¢ Very solid understanding of SQL and using relational databases. Specific work with Oracle and/or MySQL is a plus.
â?¢ Comfortable working in a Windows development environment a must. Comfort supporting applications on both Windows and Unix servers desirable.
â?¢ Familiarity with any of the following a plus: Eclipse, SVN, Maven, Tomcat, Jboss, Websphere, MQSeries.Strong multitasking, time management, team work, and analytical problem-solving skills are required.
â?¢ Ideal candidate will be comfortable assisting other developers, code reviewing other's work, and serving as mentor to other developers.
Required Experience
Minimum 6 years work experience in IT, including significant experience with Java and Web front-end technologies.
Bachelors Degree in IT or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
