We seek a highly motivated individual with experience and deep passion for everything social media, from high-level strategy to crafting the perfect 140-character sentence. This person needs to be equally passionate about social enterprise, the nonprofit world, and do-goodery in general. Candidate must believe in the power of young people. Being a little geeky isn't a bad thing. This position is full time salaried with benefits.

Free The Children is the world's largest network of children helping children through education. We seek to make this network thrive online, and we are committed to high-touch, positive interactions with stakeholders of all ages.

The successful candidate will report to Marketing and Digital Directors, and interact on a regular basis with a variety of teams within the organization. In addition to crafting content, and monitoring online chatter and buzz, this candidate will need excellent offline communications as well, and must advocate for digital priorities throughout the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Has work experience or training in advertising, PR, online marketing or similar field
  • Dedicated to blogging and use of Facebook, twitter, or other social media.
  • Reads blogs on a daily basis, should know what RSS is.
  • Can passionately advocate for preferred smartphone.
  • Demonstrated creativity and documented immersion in social media (you'll have to show us) -- you must love things like YouTube, StumbleUpon, Delicious, Digg, Reddit, Flickr, Forums, Twitter, Wikis, blogs, and understand them well.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and coordinate postings and activities on blogs and social networks
  • Be immersed in conversations that surround our content and brand, answer questions and comments, be a mediator.
  • Balance between what needs to be promoted and what maintains the integrity of our brand and social media strategy
  • Create content for feeds and snippets in various social media sites.
  • Schedule and organize multiple departments which generate content on a frequent basis
  • Participate in social media, as yourself and on our behalf
