We are looking for a seasoned manager and designer to lead a large, long-term client engagement with multiple, simultaneous design projects (including mobile), mentor the on-site design teams, and manage day-to-day productivity and product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years design leadership and management experience.
  • Experience interacting with clients, providing status reporting, and diplomatically resolving issues. Consulting experience preferred.
  • Experience manage design teams on projects including account management and project management skills. MS-Project a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years interactive design experience.
  • Hands-on ability to solve complex user (cognitive) problems through visual design, interaction design, and usability expertise.
  • Strong aesthetic judgment. (You don?t need to be a visual designer, but must understand visual design dimensions and be able to direct visual designers).
  • Demonstrated skill applying user-centered design practices, e.g., using ethnography data, user needs analysis, participatory design, end-user observation data, and usability testing data to influence design decisions.
  • Can perform various HCI/IA tasks including personas and use case scenarios, prototyping, flow diagrams, wireframes, card sorting, labeling schemes.
  • Ability to rapidly sketch out user-flows with pencil and paper, whiteboards, or post-it notes.
  • Ability to develop interactive prototypes and documentation to aid evaluation of designs for complex applications.
  • Have a strong design foundation including adept use of grids, typography, color harmony, etc.
  • Can design for accessibility, Section 508-compliance.
  • Excellent visual, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and convey ideas to technical and business teams with passion and diplomacy.
  • Experience working with use-cases and RUP-like processes a plus.
  • Product Management experience a plus.
 
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Willingness to submit to drug screening and background check (client requirement).
  • Associate?s Degree required, Bachelor?s or Master?s Degree preferred.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as account lead and design manager client design engagements, including design team management, scheduling, and status reporting.
  • Manage multiple designers on several simultaneous projects at a large, long-term client engagement.
  • Mentor the on-site design team and manage day-to-day productivity and product quality.
  • Collaborate and consult with clients, team members, and other stakeholders to translate rough ideas and opportunities into clear concept models, tangible prototypes, and elegant screen designs.
  • Be a champion for users' needs from requirements gathering through solution definition, with wireframe mockups and detailed visual design mockups.
  • Elicit requirements and fully document design work products.
  • Participate in the full design and development cycle to ensure that creative innovations in user-centered design are faithfully delivered to our clients.
  • Contribute to the continual refinement of the Red Privet design and development process.
  • Contribute to the thought-leadership of the Red Privet brand through occasional-but-regular blogging and speaking.
