The Executive Director of Global Packaging Development is responsible for supporting Aveda's strategy to continue to be the global leader in prestige beauty by ensuring brand packaging is developed to support the values of unrivaled quality, creativity and innovation.

â?¢Understand the first consumer experience is the package and that it represents the culture and DNA of the brand.

â?¢Drive innovation by identifying new technologies within and outside the industry and present new packaging concepts, technologies and delivery systems to support new ideas and innovation.

â?¢Provide comprehensive feasibility of each concept or package that defines function, manufacturability, component cost, tooling estimates, preliminary development lead time, risk and global consistency.

â?¢Support the Strategic Management Initiative by managing all aspects of the development process through technical packaging, including developing and implementing package test plans.

â?¢Build value analysis into every new development ensuring the construction and design provides the most cost effective way to achieve design criteria but also provide the best function and quality.

â?¢Work with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering to define specifications, design criteria and defect ranges to ensure optimal process flow.

â?¢Manage direct reports providing the necessary support and tools for success. Create goals and objectives for the team and create developmental plans that address potential growth opportunities.

â?¢Establish workload priorities and ensure all projects are completed on time and meet the intended design, quality, cost, functionality, and manufacturability objectives.

â?¢Ensure component production and filling/assembly are operating efficiently at the optimal rate of production.

â?¢Ensure that packages/components meet the needs of the Brand, corporation, Regulatory and Environmental Legislation, and consumer safety.

â?¢Support Global Brand Supply Chain (GBSC) and Global Supplier Relations (GSR) with package development schedules/timelines and identify risks or ways to mitigate risks to support a component availability requirement.

â?¢Build relationships and work closely with all development groups including Marketing, Product Development, R&D, Design, Global Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering and Package Operations.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

â?¢10 plus years of experience in prestige beauty industry with proven packaging development experience in hair care, color, fragrance, and skin care categories.

â?¢Technical competency in analysis of geometric objects in 2 and 3 dimensions including understanding of clearances, fit and finish of packaging components & subcomponents.

â?¢Comprehensive knowledge of materials used in the construction and manufacturing of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging including but not limited to: Injection molding, Extrusion molding, Metal forming, Glass forming, Vacuum forming, Assembly of components, Dispensing systems (Pump, Airless), Folding carton and Rigid box design.

â?¢Comprehensive knowledge of decorating techniques and
materials used on primary, secondary and tertiary packaging.

â?¢Comprehensive knowledge of test methods used to validate component/package performance.

â?¢Proficiency in computer systems including Unique Package Definition Systems, MS Excel, Word, Outlook and Timeline management systems.
