Objective:
Expand Brand-Yourself's development team to enhance user experience and refine our existing tools.
Brand-Yourself.com Overview:
Brand-Yourself.com is an online reputation management platform that enables individuals and business to manage and grow their reputation while leveraging the power of social media to build new meaningful connections.
We've been fortunate enough to be named by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the Top 5 Startups in the U.S., and have been covered in national publications and television including ABC, NBC, CBS, U.S. News & World Report, and Mashable.
Opportunity:
Working for Brand-Yourself is an opportunity for an experienced developer to challenge and expand their skill set and give input on product development and direction. The position enables you to work remotely. If you are in the central New York region we would welcome another friendly face around the office, which is always bustling with activity.
The position is for a freelance developer able to take on 30-40 hours a week. We are looking for a long-term addition to the team, and after an evaluation period there is potential for ongoing commitment.
Requirements
- Experience working with a team
- Expertise in standards-compliant HTML, CSS and unobtrusive Javascript
- Understanding of CSS frameworks such as blueprint and YUI
- Experience with Javascript frameworks such as jQuery and Mootools
- Superior understanding of cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility (Webkit, Opera, Firefox, IE7 and above)
- Experience with PHP MVC frameworks such as CodeIgniter, CakePHP and the Zend Framework
Superior English communication skills (written and verbal) - Within 1 time zone of EST (non-negotiable)
We're looking for a developer with an eye for design, and a flair for the polish that takes an application from good to great. You should write good code not because other people will see it, but because you take your work seriously. You should obsess over that one-pixel shift in the onclick state of IE7 until it's fixed, and know the difference between padding and margins. You should agree that clever is often the enemy of good. You shouldn't feel bad about posting questions (or answers) on Stack Overflow. You should be confident enough to defend your ideas but not confrontational. You should also provide us with a picture of an orange from Google Image Search. We're serious. If you send in a resume without a picture of an orange, it goes right in the trash. We just like to know you're paying attention.
Overall:
If you are contemplating the position and not sure what to do please consider the following: We are a young and dynamic company making waves in the industry. We are not just looking for someone that wants a "gig." Do you take pride in building in writing extendable, stable, scalable code? Do you code because you want to not because you have to? You have come to the right place.
NO RECRUITERS OR COMPANIES MAY RESPOND! We want real applicants. We will let the world know via social media and blogging about companies and recruiters that respond without regard to our request and that can't follow directions.
Apply: REAL APPLICANTS ONLY! Resumes & Cover Letters are nice, but we are more interested in work that you have done. Send your stuff to rsherman [at] brand-yourself [dot] com. Please don't waste my time with a generic email that does not touch on my points above.
