The Director, User Experience (UX) leads and ensures adherence to an innovative, user-centered approach to UX design at Method, while attracting and retaining the best designers. With Experience Designer leadership, the Director, UX will define and promulgate industry-leading practices for all aspects of Method?s UX practice, including user research and analysis, interaction design, and usability. S/he will practice and speak for those standards within the UX team, within project teams, within studios, with clients, and in the industry. A Director, UX, will ensure that those principles are carried out in Method work, by developing appropriate work plans during the business development process, by modeling those practices in project work, and by overseeing and mentoring other UX designers, ensuring quality deliverables and helping junior designers understand and model Method practices. Responsibilities -Lead the development of creative; combining strategy, research, interactive design, creative content and technology. -Lead initiatives for developing and refining UX best practices and processes; communicate plans and outcomes at a cross-studio level. -Partner with the design leadership to attract and retain the best UX designers; Mentor, inspire, and provide support to other UX designers on client and studio projects, and their career path. -Participate in new business pitches to win new, and extend existing client relationships. Work with client services to scope projects for clients, with specific responsibility for creating a work plan for UX processes designed to deliver against the client?s needs. -In collaboration with design leadership and strategy, define and refine processes and practices with regards to user research, design planning, and usability studies. -Present concepts, facilitate brainstorm sessions, and workshops with clients and studio teams. -On key projects, planning, executing, and leading other UX designers in implementing each step of the UX process, including discovery, user research and analysis, requirements definition, conceptual design, content planning, interaction planning, and interaction specification. -Work with design leadership and client services on project pricing, team utilization, realization, expenditures, and staffing issues. -Continually explore opportunities to enhance, improve, and expand Method?s methodologies and service offerings. -Continually enhance Method?s knowledge of the design industry and competitive landscape. -Represent Method UX to the industry; speak at industry events and publishing thought leadership materials to appropriate venues (conferences, publications, company website, blogs, etc.) Skills/Qualifications -Proven experience leading UX teams -An exceptional portfolio showcasing innovative design solutions. -10+ years experience designing workflow, interaction and UI for two or more of the following: -Large-scale, web applications (B2C or B2B) -Desktop Software -Mobile Devices -Interactive TV / 10? apps -Product interface design -BA or MA in Interaction Design, Cognitive Science, or HCI, or equivalent experience. -Expertise in human interface guidelines, standards, and best practices as they apply to platforms. -Effective communication skills (both in conversation and in writing), especially focused on running work-sessions and articulating and defending design decisions. -Ability to work with technology experts to uncover and understand technology requirements and capabilities as they relate to design deliverables.
