Software Developer at Mintel International (Chicago, IL)

Mintel has developed a web-based system for specifying, collecting, managing, and publishing field research. Mintel employees distribute work to field associates who enter data, and we publish this to our clients via one of several website systems.

This role handles day-to-day issues raised with the system, working with internal users. Secondary objectives include minor new feature development and system optimization.

This role also supports internal users of the data entry management system as well as indirectly supports field associates who enter data into the system.

Responsibilities
· Triage issue reports as raised by users
· Fix bugs according to work queue and manager direction
· Write unit tests to prevent regressions
· Maintain your own work queue where possible
· React to automatically reported system problems
· Liaise with internal users to come up with solutions to problems - both technical and non-technical
· Be contactable during standard office hours by phone, email and IM.

Requirements
· BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
· 0-2 years of related experience
· Strong personal skills, assisting others
· Must be flexible, adaptable, and able to manage own workload

Technical skills
· Core web languages (HTML, CSS, JS)
· PHP
· [My]SQL
· Unit testing / agile development

Nice to have experience
· PostgreSQL experience
· FreeBSD / UNIX
· Apache
