.NET Software Engineer - Motorsport at McLaren Applied Technologies (Woking, England)

Purpose of the Role:
McLaren Applied Technologies is the newest company in the McLaren Group with a remit to exploit Formula 1 technology to other markets. This role is part of a small but growing multi-disciplinary team in a fast paced environment. The post holder will be a key member of the team and will primarily work on designing and maintaining the software used by our F1 Racing team but there may be future opportunities to become involved in projects across a wide range of markets including medical, sports and engineering.

Status: Permanent
Base: Woking, Surrey, UK

Principal Accountabilities:
* Work with clients to define detailed specifications and create software designs based on the project requirements.
* Interpret and refine existing technical specifications.
* Design, Implement and maintain robust, generic and testable solutions within agreed timescales.
* Accurately estimate activity timescales and provide regular progress reports.
* Confidently analyse and overcome technical challenges with workable and innovative solutions.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Significant experience of C# and SQL Server, preferably through a full product lifecycle.
* Excellent understanding of the principles of software engineering, including OO development, concurrency and design patterns.
* Experience of the following, or similar, technologies would be desirable: WPF, WCF, LINQ, RhinoMocks, MSTest, ASP.NET, Silverlight.
* A computer science or software engineering degree (2:1 or above).
* Demonstrable ability and willingness to quickly learn new skills and adapt existing skills to new areas.
* Self-starter and confident decision maker with the ability to work independently.
* Demonstrable interest in developing and mentoring less experienced team members.
