Mzinga: Senior User Experience/Interaction Designer

Mzinga is seeking a passionate, highly creative senior user experience designer to design cutting edge, web-based social software and online community products. The ideal candidate understands the intersection of design, product management and development, and excels at envisioning and translating great ideas into world class interactions that wow customers, improve usability, and drive increased adoption.

Our ideal candidate is adept at interpreting user behaviors, needs and motivations, and developing fresh design frameworks to influence their experience within emerging online and mobile media. You have a great portfolio of work and it is clearly evident that you know how to apply design concepts to real world use case scenarios. You thrive in fast paced work environments, tackling challenges head on and overcoming obstacles to deliver consistently on schedule. 

Responsibilities

  •  Collaborate with the product team to drive user experience vision, strategies and execution;
  •  Design and specify user experience models, interfaces and workflows using iterative design techniques;
  • Conduct user requirements gathering and analysis, including market and customer needs, competitive research, and usability testing;
  • Develop storyboards, scenarios, mockups, prototypes, and design specifications;
  • Manage the entire user experience design process, collaborating with agile cross-functional teams to ensure that designs and interactions are effectively and efficiently executed in development;  
  • Mentor and develop junior product designers to foster team growth and innovation.

Skill Requirements

  •  5+ years of experience in the fields of interaction and/or user experience design for web-based products; Experience with social media or online community solutions a big plus;
  •   Minimum 5 years professional work experience as a UX/UI Designer with a portfolio of work;
  •  Visionary self-starter with strong knowledge of UX/UI methodologies and visual problem solving skills;
  •  Demonstrated ability to translate user behaviors into structured interactions and designs that simplify complex concepts;   
  •  Experience with establishing and performing usability testing programs that leverages a variety of user types to evaluate designs;
  • Strong analytical focus with ability to leverage performance metrics to inform design decisions; 
  • Previous experience as a web designer, proficient with prototyping and design tools (Photoshop or equivalent), as well as web design standards (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.);          
  •  Experience with advanced web and social analytics, SEO, and emerging mobile technologies a plus.
