Tax Marketing Manager - Global Accounting Firm

General Description:

Grant Thornton's tax practice provides a full range of integrated tax services aimed at helping dynamic, growth organizations and their owners with their federal, state and local, and international tax as well as compensation and benefit related needs.

The Tax Marketing Manager will play a key role in bringing Grant Thornton's tax services to market with responsibility for creating and executing marketing plans and programs that support the overall business strategy and the business plans of individual tax service lines. The Tax Marketing Manager will have specific responsibility for the State and Local Tax (SALT) service line and will also support other service lines as determined with the Tax Marketing Director and Tax Service Line Partners. Additionally, the Tax Marketing Manager will manage collaborative relationships with Grant Thornton's national industry marketing groups (Consumer and Industrial Products, Technology and Not-for-profit), to deliver industry specific tax thought leadership and execute tax marketing initiatives through industry channels.

Responsibilities:

Tax marketing campaigns and communications-

Generate demand for assigned areas of responsibility through marketing and thought leadership campaigns and programs. Expand interest for tax services via industry-tailored campaigns and programs. Develop appropriate tools, collateral material and content to support campaigns and programs. Manage tax participation in national sponsored events and seminars, including managing the event budgets, logistics, promotional materials and participating personnel.

Tax thought leadership-

Develop, promote and distribute electronic and print content in order to position assigned tax service areas and subject matter experts as thought leaders. Produce and promote Grant Thornton webcasts and develop field seminar content on timely tax topics. Measure and report results and attendance (leads) to leadership and the field. Facilitate technical and quality required reviews and approvals of time-sensitive communications and collateral material.

Presentation and proposal assistance-

Support national and field pursuit teams on significant tax opportunities. Develop and maintain standard qualifications language and other materials to rapidly respond to proposals and sales opportunities. Work with national and local office sales, marketing and tax client service professionals to develop and maintain a roster of testimonials and representative tax clients.

CRM/Database marketing-

Work with local office, regional and national marketing teams to ensure timely capture of critical tax campaign and pipeline information in SalesLogix. Build queries and produce pipeline and other reports on tax marketing initiatives. Develop and maintain target and distribution lists in support of tax marketing initiatives and publications. Mine SalesLogix for cross-selling and other new business development opportunities.

Staff development-

Develop programs and best practices for cross-training of national marketing staff on alternate service line or industry responsibilities. Mentor service line marketing staff. Provide feedback into annual performance reviews conducted by service line marketing leaders.

Travel:

Occasional overnight travel to attend firm meetings, conferences, seminars and other activities will be required.

Qualifications/Requirements:

-B.S./B.A. in business, marketing, communications, or related field.

-6 to 9 years marketing experience in professional services. Experience with an accounting firm ideal. Working knowledge of tax services and client fact patterns that drive tax service demand. Current or prior experience at Grant Thornton a significant plus.

-Demonstrable experience with the development and execution of successful demand generation and other marketing campaigns.

-Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Significant experience in developing business-to-business communications, including promotional and direct marketing materials, PowerPoint presentations, proposals, etc. Writing samples will be requested.

-Business-to-business event planning, promotion and management experience including seminars, conferences etc., as well as â??virtualâ? webcast/webinar events.

-Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and project teams, working under tight deadlines when necessary.

-High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, -Outlook).

-Significant experience with database/CRM applications, preferably SalesLogix. Ideal experience to include building, maintaining and mining client and prospects lists; producing sales pipeline and other marketing and sales reports.

-Familiarity with graphic design principles and print production. Proficiency with Photoshop, Quark, and other graphic design related software applications is a plus.
