Technical Project Manager - Scholastic.com
The eScholastic division of Scholastic, Inc is seeking a full time Technical Project Manager to assist with the execution of various operational and development projects related to the Scholastic.com web site.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Technical Project Manager, who will work closely with senior eScholastic Technology staff, will assume the following duties:
- Develop schedules, budgets and estimates related to technical projects.
- Create detailed reports on the status of technical projects.
- Create technical specifications and other necessary written documents needed for project work.
- Interface with internal staff and external developers to ensure technical projects are executed in on time, on budget and in conformance with project specifications.
- Coordinate with other groups within Scholastic who utilize eScholastic services to ensure their projects needs are met.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Bachelor?s degree in CS, Information Technology or related field; or an equivalent combination of skills, training and experience.
- Strong Project Management skills - ability to monitor and report on project status, budgets, schedules, etc.
- Strong written and oral communication skills - ability to write technical documentation.
- At least 3 years of experience working in the development of large scale web sites, with some development experience preferred.
- Knowledge/familiarity with technologies and software architectures used in web development including html/css/javascript development, dynamic scripting languages (asp/php/ruby/python), structured query languages (sql), data interchange formats (xml, json, etc), content management systems, etc.
- Knowledge of data center infrastructure is also desired but not required (switches, firewalls, networking, etc).
- Knowledge/familiarity with web site infrastructure components - web servers, relational database servers, operating systems, firewalls, load balancers, monitoring tools, sever virtualization technologies, cloud computing technologies, configuration management technologies, etc.
- Knowledge of software Quality Assurance methodologies and processes is essential.
- Familiarity with open source tools and technologies is essential, automated testing techniques and technologies A+.
