We're looking for a highly motivated Ruby expert to join a fantastic team of smart developers in downtown Orlando, FL. If you love writing clean, tested code, and developing web apps that people want to use... If you love trying out a new technology one day and deploying your code into a production environment the next... You'll be developing the core back-end Ruby code that powers our premium Blog Marketing platform, SocialSpark.com. It's a feature-rich marketplace, so you'll never run out of new code problems to solve!
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain features using Ruby on Rails
- Know your way around our databases, optimizing queries and diagnosing issues as they arise
- Write (good) unit and functional tests
- Reproduce and fix application errors and unexpected behaviors reported by internal users and external customers
- Work with the product owner to nail down the best solutions to development problems and business requirements
- Set deadlines and communicate often about progress toward those goals
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years professional web development experience
- 3+ years Ruby on Rails development experience
- Strong understanding of relational databases
- Linux ninja skills (you'll spend a good part of your day SSH'd to our servers)
- Experience deploying enterprise-level applications
- Basic knowledge of DNS, CDN, load balancing, SMTP, SSL, etc
- Strong knowledge of Git
- Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple incoming requests without dropping the ball
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Problem solver at heart
- Lives (or wants to live) in the Orlando area
- Doesn't mind the occasional dog at the office
Bonus Points if...
- you're familiar with at least a handful of the following: Bundler, Delayed Job, Compass/SASS, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Formtastic, Nokogiri, Authlogic, Mechanize
- you've worked with the Google Analytics or MailChimp APIs
- you have a Github account (or at least didn't have to Google that)
- you've written and deployed from a Capistrano recipe
