The Respiratory and Monitoring Solutions (RMS) group is a Global Business Unit within Covidien. RMS systems are used to monitor, diagnose and treat respiratory disease and sleep disorders, and they provide life sustaining ventilation and oxygen support for patients

Title: Senior Manager, New Modalities Marketing

Summary of Position:
New Modalities Marketing is responsible for managing and directing the organization's strategic marketing plans to achieve objectives for new products. This role is focused on scouting and evaluating potential white space opportunities for the Respiratory and Monitoring Solutions (R&MS) division of Covidien â?? according to clinical and financial value, strategic fit and potential for success. To be successful the Senior Marketing Manager is required to build an in-depth knowledge of our global customer needs and competitors, working relationships with the investment community and an ability to create compelling business cases for early stage opportunities. The employee will formulate the long-term vision and product strategy for the RMS in new marketplaces.

Primary Functions/Responsibilities:
â?¢ Scout potential white-space opportunities for RMS via either organic development, equity investment, acquisition or licensing
â?¢ Develop relationships with the venture capital community so as to uncover early stage technology opportunities
â?¢ Work closely with clinicians and in the field to uncover unmet needs to be addressed for white space opportunities
â?¢ Build quantitative market models; develop forecasts; analyze market dynamics and the competitive landscape
â?¢ Assess the overall market, clinical and financial value of specific opportunities
â?¢ Develop the core business case to support recommendations for key market and product opportunities
â?¢ Lead cross-functional teams, working closely with product market and R&D/Advance Technology counterparts to uncover opportunities and drive product concepts into the RMS pipeline
â?¢ Collaborate with Business Development to assess and evaluate external opportunities or licensing deals
â?¢ Develop key documents on white space opportunities to guide business decisions and technology development (market opportunity assessments, business cases, technology feasibility points, etc)
â?¢ Make presentations to senior management recommending new growth opportunities

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
â?¢ BA or BS degree in business or science / engineering, MBA highly preferred

Experience:
â?¢ 7+ years of work experience; preferably in venture capital, private equity, or product marketing. Experience in a technology incubator or entrepreneurial company a plus.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
â?¢ Strong strategic, analytical, and technical skills
â?¢ Ability to understand common scientific literature, financial reports, and legal documents
â?¢ Understanding of the financial underpinnings of the business and key market drivers
â?¢ Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
â?¢ Ability to work well in a cross-functional teams, listen effectively to others
â?¢ Ability to multi-task, work on multiple projects, with good organizational skills
â?¢ Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer software tools

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:
Reports to Director of New Modalities Marketing

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office environment with some travel
