WeatherBill is looking for a talented and motivated Quantitative Engineering Manager to join our quantitative team in building our real-time pricing and risk management platform, conduct research on statistical, financial, and meteorological topics to further develop our systems and models, and participate in the management of our portfolio of weather risk. In addition to managing the core quantitative engineering and research efforts at WeatherBill, you will work closely with sales, business development, and product teams to spec out future features and manage client-specific research efforts.
This role provides an experienced mathematically-oriented engineering manager with a new challenge - WeatherBill has built the world's first real-time multi-year forward weather simulation system. The simulation system powers a real-time pricing and risk management platform that is at the forefront of a burgeoning and unique industry. We are trying to grow this potentially $3Trillion+ industry by applying technology to enable simpler, faster, more automated and more efficient transfer of weather risk.
Who You are:
* Experienced engineering team manager with proven ability to manage quantitative software projects from start to completion
* 5+ years quantitative, or software engineering, experience, ideally with a focus on statistical modeling
* Experience developing quantitative systems with at least one of the following: Matlab, C++, R, or Java, SAS/STAT
* Graduate from top-tier university, with a degree in math, statistics, physical sciences, or related
* Preferred: Masters or PhD in same
* Preferred: Experience managing software team(s) building models at a hedge fund, financial services software firm, or insurance company
What You'd Do:
* Set objectives and manage the quantitative engineering team
* Ensure team objectives align with overall company goals
* Work towards delivery of goals against a product, or business, timeline
* Design, develop, and deliver new features and systems for our automated weather risk management platform
* Conduct financial risk analysis, define pricing terms, and execute (trade) weather coverage contracts with clients
* Research and develop future pricing algorithms and models, based on proprietary statistical and meteorological research
