Position Overview:

In this role, the Systems Development Manager will be expected to produce effective and efficient results in the development of both The Online 401(k)?s internal systems and all marketing & client sites.  This includes the end-to-end management of product development and expert understanding of all systems/software.  
 
Position requires effective project budgeting and meeting project goals.  The Systems Development Manager will be expected to be a strong decision maker in all areas affecting the systems development as well as assisting in the company?s growth and vision.  The position reports to the Executive Vice President of Operations and Product & Systems Development.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
 
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
 
·         Coordination of all programming projects and site enhancements from beginning to end.  This includes hands-on management of our development team and all bugs assigned to development team, creating deployment schedules and meeting deployment deadlines
 
·         Take direction from the Executive team regarding new products and product development, meeting with each manager to gather comments/concerns/needs and distill and organize these requirements into a well thought out project and action plan.
 
·         Providing written direction to our development team and ensure understanding of the overall project
 
·         Ensuring that all departments meet their deadlines for input and ensure that all input received meets our standards
 
·         Co-ordination of testing, deployments and releases
 
·         Conduct companywide training as needed so that all staff is made aware of each deployment and how it may affect their day to day duties.
 
·         Assist management with the research and development of new product offerings (and make recommendations when appropriate)
 
SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT
 
·         Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to envision and understand systems logic is essential
 
·         Assess bugs submitted by other departments, duplicate issues, identify source, determine priority and assign appropriately
 
·         Work with our security advisors to ensure that The Online 401(k) is meeting the requirements of our Security Policy, review security issues and act as first responder to security issues.
 
·         Direct involvement with one of our major partners (a Fortune 1000 company) in regards to their development requests and expectations.  Manage the relationship regarding systems development issues.
 
·         Anticipate process improvement and change management processes. Improve communications and be persistent in establishing presence/voice out concerns and highlight issues
 
·         Continue to build strong relationships with other supporting departments and participate in brainstorming to come up with better internal processes
 
·         Assist in budget process to analyze financial information and quotes as related to development, development contractors and other vendors
 
 
INTERNAL SOFTWARE SUPPORT AND PRODUCTION
 
·         Management of relationships with third-party service providers (Salesforce, Manticore, WebEx, etc.)
 
·         Learn all facets of The Online 401(k)?s sales database, Salesforce.com, and build a bank of knowledge to be able to assist in various projects related to maximizing the effectiveness of Salesforce.com.
 
·         Work with our Sales and Marketing departments to optimize and manage Salesforce.com for lead generation efforts
 
·         Provide basic coding and production assistance to the Marketing team utilizing software such as:  Dreamweaver (HTML), Adobe Fireworks or Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, etc.
 
 
Background Requirements:
  • Bachelor?s degree
 
  • Previous experience in Systems Development
 
  • Strong project management, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
 
  • High-energy self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude
 
  • Experience with Sales Force is essential
 
  • Experience with the following is preferred: 
 
-       Basic HTML coding in Adobe Dreamweaver
-       Formatting images for web in Adobe Fireworks or Photohop
-       Proficient in Adobe InDesign
-       Experience with HTML services (i.e. Constant Contact, MailChimp, etc.)
 
  • Project management, task prioritization, and excellent communication skills are a must.  Being a team player who knows how to add value is also expected.
 
  • Minimum of 5 years? of experience working in systems development and project management
 
  • Excellent people skills to be able to communicate with all departments and handle internal concerns and escalations in a professional manner.
 
  • Ability to lead by example and motivate employees
