iContact: Web Developer-Front End positions!

Founded in 2003, iContact is a venture-backed 170+ person company based in Durham, NC, that provides on-demand software that simplifies email marketing. The iContact product is the leading email marketing platform used by over 50,000 companies worldwide ranging from small businesses to blue chip clients. 

 iContact was named one of the Best Places to Work in the Triangle by the Triangle Business Journal in 2007, 2008, and 2009. This position will be based in the Durham/Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina.

We use open source software, like JavaScript, jQuery, Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, and agile software development methods, like Scrum, user stories, short release cycles, test-driven development (TDD) and continuous integration, to develop our highly usable, scalable, and reliable (20+ servers, sharded, replicated) enterprise-level application.

The Responsibilities:

Strong candidate will have many of the following:

·       B.S. degree in computer science or a related field

·       5+ years experience developing rich web applications

·       Fluent in JavaScript (preferably JQuery)

·       Strong OO design and architecture skills (JS and server-side code such as PHP)

·       Experience with Event Driven programming in JavaScript

·       Thorough understanding of LAMP stack

·       Enjoys collaborative development

·       Experience in Agile development process

·       Enjoys pair programming

·       Understands inner-workings of rich dynamic web applications

·       Knowledge in and excited about different types of testing

·       Takes ownership for vision and follow-through for improvements and initiatives

·       Experience with optimizing the front-end of a framework to improve page load times (using tools such as Y-Slow and Firebug)

·       Experience with MySQL (or similar, e.g. PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, SQLite, etc.)

·       Thirsty for new technical knowledge

·       A sense of humor
