We are looking for someone with the technical ability to analyze advanced malware to determine how and what the code is doing and to provide answers to our customers as to who/what/how/why their network was compromised. The malware analyst position is located in Vulnerability Research Labs' Columbia, MD or Reston, VA offices (no telecommuting available).
General Responsibilities:
• Triage and analyze binary code to determine the maliciousness of the code.
• Perform dynamic and static analysis of malicious binary code to determine its characteristics
• Learn new platforms, file formats and protocols as necessary
• Automate the analysis of malicious code
• Develop new malicious code analysis and detection tools.
Essential Technical Requirements:
• 1+ years of malware analysis experience
• IDA Pro experience
• Knowledge of debuggers (Ollydbg, WinDbg, Softice, etc)
• Working understanding of VMWare
• Experience reverse engineering x86/64 assembly
• Programming experience in C, C++, Python, and/or Java is a plus
• Working understanding of common binary protection mechanisms
