LAMP/Perl Web Developer at Liaison International (Watertown, MA 02472)

Liaison International, a stable and fast growing company that specializes in providing state-of-the-art information technology products and services to educational associations, accrediting agencies, institutions of higher education and health professions, is seeking a candidate with skills and experience in database-driven Web application development to join our talented team of developers.

Web application development experience on a LAMP stack is a must. Perl knowledge and proven experience is a requirement, as Perl is our main development language. Perl's Catalyst MVC framework is becoming a core part of our architecture, and we are doing experimentation with Ruby on Rails for several projects. HTML/Javascript/CSS/AJAX are used for the front-end of our applications. Microsoft SQL Server is used as the primary database technology, but MySQL and Postgres are being explored as alternatives.

Solid background in another language, be it .NET, Java, Python, PHP, or Ruby on Rails, is a plus. Familiarity with a variety of open-source technologies is a plus.

A successful candidate will be enthusiastic and open to acquiring new skills.

Responsibilities:

The candidate will be working on a variety of projects, including:

* Maintaining and extending existing Perl-based CGI applications
* Creating new applications in Perl, Catalyst, and potentially Ruby on Rails
* Contributing standardized modules and tools to our code library
* Helping develop a solid release/deployment management framework

Qualifications:

* 2–5 years of Web Application Development experience using Perl and Templating systems, including but not limited to:
o CGI::Application
o HTML::Template, Template::Toolkit
o Catalyst or other Perl MVC web framework
* 2–5 years of SQL Experience with MS SQL Server and TSQL/ANSI SQL
* Solid experience with the Apache/Linux environment
* Working knowledge/experience with HTML/Javascript/CSS
* Understanding of source control systems (Subversion a plus)
* Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced application development environment
* Ability to work well independently and within a team
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
