General Summary:


As a key member of the Sonos Product Management team, you will be responsible for driving the technology foundation underlying new, groundbreaking products. You will work with engineers, designers, and marketers both inside and outside of Sonos to turn innovative ideas into shipping products. In the role of Sr. Technical Product Manager, you will both understand the limitations of what technology can do and challenge our engineers in areas where we can stretch to achieve more. This Sr. Technical Product Manager position is focused on software & services. You'll work to enhance and extend our software platforms for controllers and music service integration.


Responsibilities include:


Drive our work on our underlying software platforms by acting as the primary interface between the Product Management and Product Development groups. Specifically, you will define requirements for, adapt and improve, and lead our future work on software platforms that run across multiple products â?? including our software platforms for music controllers and music service integration
Resolve complex technology tradeoff decisions in new product programs, balancing the short-term product release implications and long-term platform development
Champion/evangelize our software platform with the technical staff of partners and music services, both educating them to what our technology can do and bringing requirements back into Sonos from these partners
Lead the Sonos patent roadmap in areas related to software and user experience


Required Experience:



Bachelor degree or higher in Computer Science
3+ years of experience working as a software engineer (in any field, not necessarily consumer electronics or music)
3+ years of industry experience in music services, smartphones, consumer electronics, or CE-related software products
Experience leading Developer Partner Programs in software companies before highly desired
Experience working in Product Management or a customer-centric role highly desired
In-depth knowledge of software for connected devices, DLNA, UPnP, and other consumer electronic software standards
Strong affinity with consumer products and technology
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences
