The Annaly IT team is currently looking to augment its staff, to help the firm maintain its technology infrastructure and to further develop its in-house software systems, which are used to manage thousands of MBS positions.

As a Senior Engineer at Annaly, you will have the following:
-- Technology Responsibilities. You are expected to have a deep understanding of:
• Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008, ranging from its architecture through T-SQL and ADO.NET access
• Microsoft .NET technologies, ranging from the CLR itself through C# and the WinForm APIs
• General programming concepts, including structured and OO design techniques, principles of multi-threaded programming, OS APIs, etc.
-- Business Responsibilities. You must:
• Learn and understand our business needs
• Study data sources / systems / etc.
• Interview business users to create and / or understand requirements
• Prepare requirements, including architectural mapping documents
• Communicate architecture to business, management, and IT
-- Ongoing Duties and Responsibilities. You will have to:
• Work on our existing distributed .NET applications, XBasis and RepoMatrix. This will include maintaining the ongoing systems, adding in entirely new modules, as well as introducing new technologies such as WCF and WPF.
• Develop new applications, including console tools to streamline the development process
-- Required Characteristics. You must:
• Be passionate about both finance and software
• Have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Work well in conjunction with other team members, help establish and maintain corporate software standards, and keep all related documentation current and clear
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and employees
• Have strong organizational skills
• Have good problem solving and decision making skills, including the ability to understand and analyze complex issues
• Respond to frequent demands from multiple users
• Work with minimal supervision
• Possess leadership skills and be able to act as a mentor for junior members of team
• Be able to come into our NYC office every day
-- Education / Experience:
• A minimum of 5 years of software experience is required
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• Or relevant combination of education and experience
